Typically, we cover a lot of ground on the Wharton Blog Network. We relay the key takeaways from events or news from the Philadelphia and San Francisco campuses, and discuss Wharton’s influence around the world. Our alumni and faculty contributors share insights on news headlines or on emerging issues in given industries based on their expertise. And we are in the process of expanding our base of student bloggers, who give a unique perspective of Wharton, their experiences and goals. That makes for robust and frequent new content.
But could we be doing better?
I just returned from the “Editors Forum,” a conference hosted by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and designed especially for professionals who create alumni magazines and other publications.
I walked away with a greater appreciation for you, our audience. Not all of my peers at other colleges and universities—indeed most—have the chance to develop content for such a dynamic and eminent body of alumni. It is a challenge, for sure, but a privilege.
I also gained a greater appreciation for the power of back-and-forth with my audience, whether through social media or more traditional survey methods. Here, I hope to combine new media with the traditional.
