Still searching for the perfect presents for family and friends this holiday season? Two new shopping guides featuring businesses by Wharton alumni may have just what you need.
Started this year, the WAFFA Female Founders Shop by the Wharton Alumnae Founders and Funders Association and the Wharton Black MBA Alumni Association’s holiday shopping catalog showcase an array of novel gift ideas from members of the Wharton community. Among the featured businesses are sellers of snacks and spices, beauty and skincare products, clothing for different occasions, and much more — a few of which are shown below.
Each alumni association launched their guide as a way to highlight members of their respective communities in the face of the pandemic.
“The pandemic has disproportionately impacted women. So, we wanted to showcase these resilient women and their companies,” says Caroline Dahllöf WG09, WAFFA co-president, of her idea to open the association’s shop.
“In the past 21 months of the pandemic, there’s been this shift, with many people really thinking more deeply about what’s important and how to shop in ways that speak to what they value,” says Simone Thomas WG18, who led the launch of the Wharton Black MBA Alumni Association’s guide. “We wanted to take an opportunity this holiday season to highlight some of these incredible entrepreneurs in our own community.”
